Custom Orthotics
To improve poor foot conditions or alignment, Foot & Ankle Surgeons of Oklahoma offers several different custom orthotics. Patients of all ages can benefit from orthotics, from small children to professional athletes, and even adults in their golden years. The purpose of orthotics is to hold the foot in a certain position while controlling the amount of motion the joints go through while standing, walking and running. They can dramatically decrease the amount of foot pain patients feel, and potentially improve the condition itself.
We work directly with Allied OSI Labs to customize a variety of orthotics, including options for patients needing moderate-to-aggressive correction for foot and gait abnormalities, children under the age of 10 needing to correct or prevent gait abnormalities, and athletes looking for shock absorption while allowing some natural pronation.
In general, custom orthotics are effective in the management of many specific foot conditions, which include:
- Arch or Heel Pain
- Flat Feet
- Bunions & Hammertoes
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Shin Splints
- Neuromas
- Arthritis
- Runner’s Knee Pain
- Heel Spurs
- Lower Back Pain
- Hip Pain
- Painful Calluses

How the process works:
During your appointment, we’ll take a mold of your foot in the office and send it out to our lab. Once there, technicians will build and customize the orthotic to your foot’s exact size, shape and deformity. These take about 4 weeks to complete, from beginning to end.
When we receive your custom orthotic, you’ll return to the office for a custom fit appointment. There will be an initial break-in period during the first week of wear, but after that, we recommend using them consistency in all shoes in which they fit. If for any reason your orthotic still does not fit properly, we’ll be able to modify it within 30 days.
